Addition Financial Receives 2019 Corporate Philanthropy Award

Lake Mary, Fla. (November 1, 2019) – Orlando Business Journal recently recognized Addition Financial with the 2019 Corporate Philanthropy Award. The award, which honored 13 Central Florida businesses and individuals, showcases organizations that have given back to their community by donating time and resources.

As a credit union founded by local teachers, Addition Financial has held a strong focus on supporting philanthropic efforts in education throughout Central Florida. The credit union partners with local school districts by offering affinity debit cards, providing financial education workshops for all age groups, donating to foundations, and sponsoring a variety of events that support students, faculty and staff. Addition Financial also launched the annual Renovate to Educate contest in 2018, selecting local elementary school teachers to receive their dream classroom makeovers.

In addition to its school district relationships, Addition Financial also partners with local higher education institutions. Addition Financial is the Official Financial Institution of the UCF Knights, and sponsors programs in several of the university’s departments and colleges. Addition Financial is also the Preferred Credit Union of Seminole State College and the Preferred Credit Union of Valencia College. Through these college partnerships, the credit union provides free financial education workshops to help students, faculty and staff develop positive money management habits.

Each year, Addition Financial provides the Joseph A. Melbourne Jr. Scholarship to a select group of undergraduate and master’s level students. The scholarship awards six undergraduate students and two master’s students each year, with the awards totaling $65,000 annually.

Addition Financial supports a variety of other organizations in the Central Florida community through corporate philanthropy, including A Gift For Teaching, the LGBT+ Center of Orlando, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, Junior Achievement, Valencia College Future Teachers Academy, Leadership Seminole and more.
